Net Zero homes for families in Squamish.

100% of the home’s energy will be generated onsite through renewable sources. This project goes beyond sustainable to include a holistic assembly of features adapted to living today and for our future.

Living here means you are part of the solution, having a net positive impact for the climate, biodiversity, and community.

Community-Centred Family Living

The project is organized around a shared central courtyard that acts as the social heart of the community.

Homes open toward the lawn creating active edges, passive oversight, and opportunities for spontaneous interaction between neighbours. This arrangement supports children’s play, casual gathering, free-range parenting, and a sense of collective safety, while still allowing each household to maintain its own private threshold and outdoor space.

  • Central shared lawn as the primary community space
  • Courtyard-facing homes that create active edges
  • Shared open space functioning as an internal pedestrian street
  • Passive oversight from adjacent units
  • Balance between private family life and shared community life
  • Generous kitchens, dining areas, storage, garages, and varied bedroom sizes
  • Community sauna
  • Outdoor dining and lounge space
  • Garden planters for herbs and vegetables
  • Pedestrian connection to the adjacent planned playground

Juniper Landscape Design Inspiration

Landscape as Infrastructure

The landscape design for Juniper is rooted in xeriscape principles, prioritizing water conservation, resilience, and meaningful community space.

The planting palette is both beautiful and functional. Plant selections, including lavender, Russian sage, and woolly sunflower, are drought-tolerant and require irrigation only during establishment, aligning with water efficiency guidelines.

Rocky terracing creates visual interest and a clear transition between pedestrian and vehicular realms, drawing residents into a central common area that serves as the community core, planted with culinary herbs and perennials.

Private gardens adjacent to homes are planted with water-conscious, mowable grasses and perennials in place of traditional turf, reducing long-term water demand while maintaining usable outdoor space for residents.
